AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The aim of the tusker youth team development is to identify players with excellent football skills and assist them where possible to achieve their various ambitions in the career. Furthermore, we empower them and enrich them with more knowledge about the sport. We strive to produce quality players for the Tusker senior team in order to suatain the success of the club and the national team in general.
Tusker Youth is the current junior team to Tusker FC, fully managed under the leadership and structure of Tusker Football Club. The youth team was incepted in 2012 with an aim of developing "youth - adult" football players, preparing them for elite football performance and footballing career.
The home of Tusker Youth is Ruaraka Stadium; this is where weekly training programme, home friendly matches and home league matches takes place.
The youth team recruits talented football players aged between 18 years and 20 years, with a few exceptions of over 20 years players mainly for the purpose of sharing a part of experience required for future elite football performance.
The youth team technical bench headed by Coach Aggrey Evayo is solely responsible for scouting talented players and recruiting them in the team. The youth team has a number of 4 coaches assisting the Head Coach and the Team Manager. They all work closely with a number of local grassroot coaches country wide and maintains contacts with football centres and football academies to identify talented youth players to engage in the programme.
The weekly programme that runs from Tuesday to Sunday everyweek, involves development focused football training sessions, friendly matches, league matches and periodic tournaments.
LEAGUE AND TOURNAMENT
With an aim of providing a purely developmental platform and a further opportunity for the youth players to develop more, the youth team actively participates in year round Nairobi county league.
Tusker Youth is currently taking part in the KPL/FKF U20 football tournament, a tournament it has featured in all past editions.
SUCCESS STORIES AND FUTURE PLANS
Two players were signed to Tusker FC senior team in June 2016 transfer window. One player signed with Nairobi Stima and already featuring in FKF NSL from June 2016.
The first eleven of this year's team, all progressed to top tier (KPL, NSL, Division 1 & 2) league teams in Kenya, except one still playing with the team.
The youth team plans to engage more with "purely football development programmes", and ensuring maximum progress of players to top tier league teams in Kenya, professional football contracts in the region and abroad.
