Tusker began their CAF Champions League campaign on a lower note after being held by ASPL 2000 on a 1-1 scoreline in the preliminary first round match played at the Kasarani stadium on Saturday 11 February 2017.
In the 20th minute Tusker were the first to shake the net through a well taken free kick from Ugandan International Shafiq Batambuze while Port Louis equalized in the 48th minute.
Tusker made substitutions in the second half bringing in Mike Khamati for Noah Wafula and additionals like Clifford Alwanga and Victor Ndinya who made efforts to break the tie by pulling good crosses in the Port Louis box but were failed to be converted.
Port Louis resulted to time wasting tactics after their equalizer with Tusker failing to unlock their defense after they came forward in their numbers in search for a goal.
Tusker will then need an away win and not concede to make it into the next round.
