George Nsimbe has described Sunday’s Round 4 draw against Sofapaka fc as a fair result.
Tusker and Sofapaka played out to a thrilling 2-2 contest at Thika municipal Stadium in Thika as 10 men Tusker decided to hold the host to the final whistle.
“First of all I want to thank the boys for what they gave out today, the officiating was not good and secondly we conceded goals from our very own mistakes from the defenders so Sofapaka punished us but otherwise getting a point from them is not easy.” Nsimbe
Sofapaka were fortunate to leave with at least a point thanks to their speedy goalkeeper, Kigonya who shut out attempts by Allan in the first half before making crucial saves to deny Anthony Ndolo and Michael Khamati in the second half of play with the referee ruling Allan’s goal as offside.
Sofapaka scored their first goal in the first minutes after Wanok Pate penetrated the defense line and gave them the lead of the game. They continued pilling pressure on the defense line but this time round James Situma and Lloyd Wahome did not allow them to take another chance.
In the 26th minute after Allan wanga’s shot towards goal was tipped for corner by Kigonya, Batambuze well curved corner kick landed on Michael Khamati’s head which saw Tusker equalize the score line. Minutes before half time, Allan Wanga’s strike to double the brewers lead.
Sofapaka pounced back with an equalizer in the 53rd minute when Moses Odhiambo found the Tusker backline not prepared. Minutes later tusker was reduced to a ten-man squad after Situma was issued with a second yellow card.
“We have to work hard to see that we don’t concede goals. This time the strikers did their part from a goal down and they scored two goals, again on defending we did not defend our goals very well. However, it is a fair result, Sofapaka is not a small team.” Nsimbe
The game saw 5 players, James Situma, Allan wanga, Moses Ndawula, Humphrey Mieno and Cercidy Okeyo getting yellow cards and have seen Brewers move to number 14 on the log table with their next game on 15th April, 2017 against Ulinzi stars.
