Tusker moved to the fourth position of the Kenyan premier league log table following the home win against Sony sugar fc at the Ruaraka grounds.
Nsimbe’s side recorded their fifth win in a row after having collected maximum points from Nakumatt, Muhoroni Youth, Kakamega Homeboyz, Zoo fc and lately Sony Sugar.
Speaking to www.tuskerfc.co.ke Tusker fc head coach, George Nsimbe said,” It was not an easy match. We came all the way from Kericho and trained twice for the match and managed to collect maximum points. The fighting spirit shows that we are competing and not just participating in the league.”
Tusker made a flying start led by the duo of Michael Khamati and Allan Wanga who gave the Sony Sugar backline a difficult time. On the other hand Asembeka and Daniel Ochieng tried to break the solid Tusker backline but they found them alert and not shaken. Minutes into the match as the pressure was increasing and both teams were in a search for a goal Duncan Ochieng saved the Brewers from conceding an early goal by denying Ochieng a chance by tipping it out for a corner kick.
The millers were calmed in the 38th minute when Allan Wanga fired the ball while inside the 18 yard box and easily going through past their goalkeeper to take Tusker to the lead. The Brewers were outstanding both in the first half and second half as Michael Khamati double the lead minutes after the half time break.
Sony Sugar’s substitute Muchiri Boniface who was introduced in the second half was all they needed to console them. A counter attack by the millers found Muchiri who was tackled by James Situma inside the 18 yard box hence winning them a penalty which was converted by Amos Asembeka.
Meanwhile, the victory is a massive lift for Tusker who are set for an away match on a high ahead of Saturday’s big showdown in Machakos to face Mathare united in Round 12 match.
