Defenders Eugene Asike and Sammy Meja have been awarded as the club’s May players of the month after their exemplary performances.

Meja who started the season playing much of the campaign on the periphery was handed a starting chance when the season resumed and has started in each and every game since the restart. He also scored the solo goal in the 1-1 draw against Wazito FC.

Asike has also played in all the matches since the restart, but came on as a second half substitute in the Football Kenya Federation Betway Cup match away to Marafiki FC.

“I feel very delighted about it, but I believe it is team effort, I believe we are all winners. It is a good gesture and this makes me feel motivated going forward. Seeing the executive office come here to appreciate the work we are doing and appreciate the team brings good energy into the camp,” Asike, also the assistant captain stated.

While acknowledging his award, Sammy Meja said; “I am thankful to be awarded. The coach believed in me and gave me the chance and I took it with both hands and gave 100pc. The coach believed in me and I am glad that belief has paid off.”

The players were presented with their awards by club Chairman Dan Aduda. “As the management we will always be in support of you as players and we will motivate you to bring in good results. This month, we decided to award two players and we will look to do the same moving forward,” Aduda said.

The player of the month is chosen by the technical bench based on performance on and off the pitch.

Henry Meja and Jackson Macharia are the other two previous winners of the award.
