Ahead of Wednesday afternoon’s game against Western Stima, Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano says the victory is a motivating factor especially coming after a tough week where the team lost two games.
Tusker lost the Cup quarter final against AFC Leopards before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Posta Rangers in the league. But the win over Sharks boosts the team confidence heading into the next 13 matches.
“In terms of motivation it is very big. If you lose two consecutive matches, it kills the morale of the team but winning gives you confidence. Now we can plan without pressure from anyone and we are already thinking of the next game. This is gone now, we have to look at getting another win.”
Looking back at the game, Coach Matano was impressed with how the players executed the game plan.
“We played according to our game plan and it worked how we wanted. Everyone worked hard in the team and we pinned Sharks in their own half and created many scoring chances. We got the goal we needed and that was enough for us,” said the coach.
“We had to gain some confidence by getting a win and everyone in the team is relieved. We always want to win because we are a winning team. This victory was really needed and everyone is now calm and happy,” added the coach.
