TUSKER FC 2-0 VIHIGA UNITED FC
Tusker had their third consecutive win of the season when they scored Vihiga united 2-0 in a highly contested match at the Ruaraka grounds on Wednesday 2nd January 2019.
Midfielder Sydney Ochieng, who has been on form in the past matches was also very instrumental on this one netting his third goal since the season started in December 2018.
He scored a brilliant opener in the 15th minute of the match before doubling it up in the 20th minute of the game after a rebound from the goalkeeper which found Sydney ready to tap it in.
Tusker made their intentions clear from onset. Timothy Otieno was fouled in the 4th minute of the match and a free kick was awarded to Tusker. A chance for Macharia to gift Tusker the lead rather found him sending the ball directly to the goalkeeper’s hands.
Tusker continued to pile more pressure on the visiting side Timothy Otieno having interplay with Rodgers Aloro who curved the ball straight to Sydney who could not resist but head in the first for the match.
Minutes later, Sydney was back on the score sheet after a well taken corner take found Justine Omary whose header went directly to the cross bar and the loose ball found Sydney ready to tap it in sending the first half to a 2-0 win.
Coming back after recess, Matano made some slight changes introducing Peter Nzuki for Macharia, minute’s later goal scorer Sydney Ochieng was injured and replaced with John Kamau and finally introducing Kevin Omondi for David Juma.
In the 71st minute of the match Tusker got a corner take which was well taken by Muchiri Bonface. Lloyd Wahome headed in the ball which hit the cross bar the rebound fell on John Kamau’s legs who sent it flying off target. The match ended with the two goals, Tusker having their third win of the season.
Speaking after the game, Coach Robert Matano said,
“we have started well we lost a lot of chances too and we appreciate what we got at the end.”
Tusker is set to take on Sofapaka FC on Saturday 5th January, 2019.
