Tusker FC coach Robert Matano says that despite the team sealing a ticket to the CAF Champions League next season, the work is not yet done. The team ensured a place in continental football is reserved after finishing top on the final day of June with a 4-1 thrashing of Ulinzi Stars in Nakuru.
“This was just one of our targets this season and it has come early. But that does not mean that the work is done. We still have a lot to do, we still have the trophy to fight for. This is now behind us and the focus now is on the games that remain,” the coach stated.
On earning a ticket to play Continental football, the boss was ecstatic.
“I am very happy because of the work we have done as a team. After losing twice in a row, we had to come back and work harder because everyone knew that we wanted to do something special and come out with good results,”
“This is a good achievement for the team and has been our ambition since we started the league; to play in the CAF Champions League. Through the commitment and effort of the players, we have made it and this is something special for us,” added Matano.
The team resumed training on Friday morning with the focus now switched on the next assignment, a league duel against Gor Mahia on Thursday at Ruaraka.
