Tusker FC beat National Super League side Black Stars 4-3 in a friendly match at the Ruaraka Complex on Wednesday. Apollo Otieno struck a brace with Jackson Macharia and Boniface Muchiri striking another two in the second half.
Apollo Otieno opened the scoring with a sensational long range freekick a few minutes to the break before he completed his brace in the second half with another long range pile diver. He almost made it 3-0 a few minutes later when a corner was played short to him at the edge of the box but his stinging strike was turned behind by the keeper.
A few mistakes at the back saw Black Stars draw the game 2-2 before going ahead 3-2, but Tusker pumped the pressure in the final 15 minutes.
Jackson Macharia made it 3-3 when he tapped home inside the six yard box from Wellington Ochieng’s cutback after his penalty was saved. He turned provider towards the end when he raced through on the right off a counter attack before laying the ball for Muchiri to tap home.
The team is using the game to prepare for this weekend’s Football Kenya Federation Cup game away to Division Two Club Mihuu United in Bungoma on Saturday.
